Green Day +1 a successGreen Day +1 was a great success! Corp members, Staff and Community came together to the first celebration of the
Green Brigade last Monday. We had about 150 people in attendance to witness great spoken word, performances and presentations
about the work of the Brigade. It was the second time this summer where the whole core (Northstar and PAACA) were together
at one site. We will be posting pics and presentations on the GB page so check it out. Thanks to all that participated
in our special day!
Green Brigade Rocks!The
Green Brigade, the latest youth centered program at PAACA is in full swing!
The GREEN BRIGADE is a collaboration of Positive
Action Against Chemical Addiction, Inc. (PAACA) and Northstar Learning Centers designed to provide an innovative environmental
work experience for over 100 WIA qualified youth ages 14 to 24 as part of the nation’s stimulus initiative. The project began in mid-July and has initiated a variety of environmental based projects throughout the community
such as community gardens, tree farming, recycling and a host of other environmentally friendly projects. In addition to the two lead agencies, the project includes a network of other community partners such as the New
Directions, Workforce Investment Board, University of Massachusetts Sustainability Office, Bristol Community College, Gifts
to Give, Trinity Day School, NB Department of Public Infrastructure and a cadre of environmental organizations including Brix
Family Farm and Audubon Society among others. Join us on Monday, August 17th from 11am
to 1pm at Hazelwood Park as we highlight the work of the GREEN BRIGADE
Corps members.
